Founded by Chlär in 2023, Primal Instinct Records was founded to capture what we believe sits at the core of techno: the meeting point between primitivism and innovation. Built around complex, body-driven grooves and forward-thinking sound design, the label treats techno not only as club music, but as a cultural force, a modern ritual where rhythm becomes a shared language and the dancefloor becomes a space for connection. From the beginning, Chlär has been driven by research and curiosity: why does techno move us so deeply, and what does it reveal about us as humans and our history? That question shaped both the label’s curation and its wider artistic universe, from carefully crafted vinyl releases to showcases and audiovisual projects. After establishing a distinct catalogue and a strong community around the label, Primal Instinct is now entering a new chapter: evolving its visual identity, expanding its events in Berlin and beyond, and developing large-scale live concepts like KERNEL, an immersive audiovisual performance that pushes the dialogue between music, technology, and the human condition.
